Christmas is such a magical time of the year and seems to sneak up on us every time. So, with the help of our friend, Brooke Spain @anorganisedapartment we have the ultimate list to keep you organized, sane and prepared for the magical festivities ahead – you might even have time to have a moment to yourself to kick your feet up.
The Ultimate Christmas Checklist To Get Organized Early
START THE PROCESS EARLY
Make a list and check it twice. To beat the Christmas rush, breakdown all the tasks you need to do from now and in the lead up to Christmas to make everything manageable. Start the process by making a checklist from gifting lists to Christmas decorations you need for the tree or throughout your home, wrapping paper, Christmas card lists and a rough idea of your Christmas Menu. “Christmas readiness when it comes to presents, I write a list, buy early before the Christmas madness sets in and I buy with a purpose and longevity in mind. This year, I will be adding a bit of magic into my gifts for everyone with a few pieces from the CIRCA collection and as for my girls, they’re receiving from us a pair of swimmers, a pair of pyjamas, a winter coat, books and a fun item! I decide the fun item closer to Christmas as we drill down on ideas from the girls.”
CHRISTMAS DECORATING
For those of us who have boxes of Christmas decorations, we wait for the beginning of December to pull everything out and start decorating. Start pulling out your boxes at the beginning of November taking note of your lights, ornaments, wreaths and baubles to see if anything is broken or needs replacing. This helps take the stress of last minute decoration shopping.
Start thinking of the colour theme you would like to decorate throughout your home, go through your selection of decorations and decide which ones you’ll need this year and then put away the rest. “I like to maintain a consistent traditional theme as it stands the test of time and reduces waste using what you already have. Every year I alternate between decorations. This Christmas and similarly to last Christmas, I am decorating our home and table with CIRCA”.
PLAN THE MENU
“Draft a Christmas Day menu and circulate it to family mid-November. Deciding on who will prepare each dish for the day, to make the day enjoyable for everyone if we all take a meal.” By having a rough idea of the Christmas lunch or dinner menu it will help determine how much to make and allow you to start making your shopping list early. And if you’re deciding on making a new dish this Christmas, practice them first before the day to reduce the stress of getting it right – you don’t need the added pressure of mastering a new dish.
PLUS, BE READY FOR ANYTHING
Tis’ the season for giving, so it’s a good idea to stock up on some Kris Kringle gifts so you’re ready for anything. It could be unexpected guests arriving at your door or last-minute invitees to dinner parties or you may even need a small gift to say thank you to a school teacher, dance teacher or soccer coach. “My personal favourite this year, is the 3 pack mini candle trio, perfect to break up for a small, useful Christmas gift for family and friends”.

THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS
Christmas morning is usually jam packed with opening presents, preparing your designated meal and getting ready to go off to a day full of festivities with family and friends. To beat the morning rush, Brooke suggests laying out the Christmas day outfits, pack a bag full of the family presents and prepare your designated meal the night before. "This will help you ease into the morning and limit you feeling flustered or forgetting something".
